Pathways of Learning: Educational Outreach and Exploration in Africa In-Person
Connie Bohrer, Instructional Specialist at the Skaneateles Central School District, will share photographs and insights gained from her transformative personal and professional experiences on sabbatical in Tanzania.
Connie is the 2024 recipient of the Skaneateles Education Foundation's Jean Graham Fund Award for her grant Pathways of Learning: Educational Outreach and Exploration in Africa. During this summer sabbatical in Tanzania, Connie spent her first week conquering a personal challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. For the professional growth component of this sabbatical, Connie volunteered her services as a teacher with the Arusha Integrated Primary School. While in country, she also experienced a safari in the Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater.
About the Speaker: Connie Bohrer has more than 35 years of experience as an educator, 24 of which have been in Skaneateles. She has worked as a Pre-K and K-6 classroom teacher and a K-12 Instructional Specialist and Coach, helping students overcome reading and writing challenges. Connie is certified by Wilson Language as a Dyslexia Therapist and as an In-District Trainer. In these roles, she has successfully implemented targeted educational plans that foster student success and confidence and professional development opportunities for her colleagues.
