ReWilding for Wildlife & Water: How You Can Make a Difference In-Person
We only have until the end of the decade to bend the curve on nature and biodiversity loss. Transformational change is possible if we start now at every level from local to global.” (UNEP Facts about the Nature Crisis).
Wildlife populations are declining and water quality is worsening at an alarming rate — but there is still hope. Janice Wiles, owner of Go Native! perennials in Skaneateles, NY, will share why restoring landscapes with native vegetation is a fundamental contribution we all must make to support bending the curve on biodiversity loss, and strategies to make that happen on your property.
Janice Wiles is a longtime community leader, environmental advocate, and ecological entrepreneur. She is the founder of Go Native! perennials LLC , a nursery that grows native
plants and native plants for seed — and works to advance regenerative landscaping and land stewardship. Janice’s career spans local, national, and international work in conservation and community building. She has served as South America Director for Global Forest Watch, Liaison to the Brazilian Science Ministry for NASA’s Amazon climate research program, and Senior Program Officer for the World Wildlife Fund. Her experience ranges from coordinating multinational science initiatives in the Pantanal and Amazon regions in Brazil to building citizen-led campaigns for smart growth and clean water here at home. Closer to the ground, she co-founded the Frederick County Food Council and Farm to School
program (in Maryland), and helped lead sustainability planning and advocacy efforts across Maryland and New York.
Recognized by the National Women’s History Project for “Women Taking the Lead to Save the Planet,” Janice brings passion, creativity, and decades of leadership to her work — building healthier ecosystems and stronger communities, one project at a time.
